The number of declarations in the green channel increases by 71 thousand - Objective/ Costs are reduced and customs clearance time is reduced for businesses
In the next three years, more ease is foreseen for importing and exporting businesses in terms of the time they spend in processing customs declarations.
The government plans to increase the number of customs declarations processed in the green channel, or as it is called "without customs control", for the import of products from abroad by over 46 thousand during the years 2025-2027. Specifically, from nearly 126 thousand processed in 2024, this number is expected to reach around 172 thousand in 2027.
It is also intended to increase the number of customs declarations processed in the green channel for the export of products from Albania to international markets by nearly 25 thousand in the following three years. In 2024, nearly 61 thousand processed statements are expected, while in 2027 this number reaches 86 thousand.
Another objective is to shorten the average time for a customs clearance, so that businesses will find this procedure simpler.
The green channel enables several advantages for the business community. Among them, the most important is reducing costs and reducing the time that businesses spend at customs, avoiding any administrative barrier, as well as avoiding physical contact between the customs officer and the business. The selection of the business for the green channel or not is mainly about documentation and is automatic. This channel serves all entities that are safe as far as the risk is concerned.
While in the blue channel pass those subjects who are required to check documents, but who are not in the category of subjects with risk. While in the red channel pass those subjects with high risk, where it turns out to be a small number. This service has been active since 2015.
