Quotas and market concentrations - Competition Authority and NCC, information

In the context of increasing transparency and awareness of businesses, the Competition Authority, in cooperation with the National Business Center, has established a new information mechanism that aims to facilitate procedures and strengthen the culture of competition in the market.

Now, any entity applying to the Commercial Register for a share purchase or merger by absorption is informed in advance on the CNB website about the legal obligations and administrative sanctions stemming from the legislation for the protection of competition. Before registering, the business can verify whether its transaction falls within the scope of merger control and whether notification or authorization is required from the Competition Authority.

According to the Competition Authority, this prior notification aims to avoid ambiguities, reduce violations due to non-notification, and increase compliance with market rules.

Meanwhile, the Competition Authority invites all businesses planning transactions of this type to consult the CBC website before registering, ensuring compliance with the law and a process that is as transparent as possible.
