Business reacts to suspension of Strategic Dialogue with the US - "Relations with the United States are vital for Kosovo"
The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce expressed concern over the indefinite suspension of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States. The institutions demand urgent action from the government to restore relations with the US and restore the confidence of foreign investors.
The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce have reacted with deep concern following the decision of the United States of America to indefinitely suspend the Strategic Dialogue with the country. This process was seen as an important mechanism for strengthening economic cooperation, promoting investment and sustainable development.
The Chamber of Commerce emphasizes that relations with the United States are vital for Kosovo, recalling that America has always been a strategic partner in building democratic institutions, economic development and Euro-Atlantic integration. The institution assesses that any action that damages this relationship is against the interests of citizens and the economic future of the country.
In its response, the Chamber recalled that it had requested that the government urgently remove the tax on American products, but the steps taken by the executive were assessed as delayed and ineffective.
On the other hand, sources from the Chamber of Commerce said that the suspension of the Strategic Dialogue is a step back for Kosovo's economic and diplomatic aspirations. He stressed that creating a credible image for the country as a safe destination for investments should be a national priority.
Chamber officials raised concerns about the lack of foreign investment and the decline in remittances from the diaspora, which are creating a difficult situation for the local economy. They also mentioned the challenges of energy market liberalization, which have added to the burden on businesses.
Both economic organizations appealed for a solution to be found as soon as possible and the restoration of the Strategic Dialogue with the US, also demanding the consolidation of economic policies to restore the confidence of foreign investors.
