"Voyager of the Seas" for the first time in Saranda/Balluku: 70 cruise ships arrive this season
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, announced today through a post on social networks that the "Voyager of the Seas" cruise ship with 3,626 passengers has arrived for the first time at the port of Saranda.
According to the announcement, the tourists arriving through it were processed by the port of Saranda, which in the first 8 months of this year has an increase in the number of passengers by 21%, compared to the same period last year. "The "Voyager of the Seas" cruise ship is added to the number of 70 cruises planned for this season to come to Saranda," said Balluku.
The cruise ship "Voyager of the Seas" with the Bahamas flag arrived yesterday at the Port of Saranda and the geography of the tourists was diverse from several countries such as Australia, America and Canada of different ages. The tourists were divided into different groups according to the respective destinations selected by them such as Butrint, the castle of Lëkurës, the Blue Eye, or the cities of Gjirokastra and Përmet.
During this year, maritime transport of passengers and tourists has seen a continuous increase. Through the main maritime gateway of the country, the Port of Durres, during the first seven months of this year, an increase of 4% was recorded in the flow of passenger arrivals and departures, compared to the same period last year. 195,310 passengers were registered at the entrance to the country, while 157,229 passengers chose the ferries of the Durres-Italy lines to travel abroad.
In a broader perspective, considering the period July 2024 - July 2025, passenger traffic has marked a cumulative increase of 6%, confirming the important role of the Port of Durres as an important entry point for tourists and visitors choosing Albania.
