Tax-free border/ Albanian Customs clarifies the allowed limits!
Albanian Customs announces that travelers coming from another country to the Republic of Albania are exempt from import duties for goods found in their personal luggage.
According to the notification, goods are exempt if, by their type and quantity, they are not intended for commercial use. Goods for the personal use of travelers or goods as gifts are exempt.
DSH informs that the value of goods that benefit from exemption (excluding tobacco and alcohol products) is according to the equivalent value in lek of the amounts, as follows:
· Land travelers: 300 euros per traveler
· Air or sea travelers: 430 euros per traveler
· For travelers under 15 years old: 150 euros
According to the DSH, when entering or exiting the Republic of Albania, the traveler must declare the goods if they are of a value higher than the relevant limit mentioned above and if they are for commercial purposes.
Customs authorities may ask the traveler to declare all goods he is transporting.
For non-commercial goods in the luggage of travelers that exceed the limit exempt from import customs duties, customs declaration is carried out through the Simplified Declaration procedure.
