Where are the 98 priority development areas? - 15 municipalities determine the territories where investments will be made, 108 thousand hectares available

A number of municipalities in Albania have declared priority development areas, which have been approved by the government, within the framework of the implementation of the "Mountain Package", giving the green light to investments in these territories. In total, there are 98 designated areas in 15 municipalities and with a total area of 108 thousand hectares.
Specifically, among the first local self-government units that have already completed this process are the municipality of Belsh, where 5 zones have been defined and 409.6 hectares are available for investment. The municipality of Elbasan has declared 4 priority zones for the development of the mountain economy, with a total area of 3591.7 hectares. The municipalities of Përmet and Skrapar have declared only one priority zone for development, with 200 and 258 hectares respectively.
Meanwhile, the announcement of the zones was followed by the Municipality of Mat, in which 3 zones with a surface area of 620 hectares of land were determined. In the Municipality of Shijak, 20 priority development zones have been determined with a total of 302 hectares available for investment. In the Municipality of Shkodra, 5 zones have been approved, with a total of 4420 hectares.
In the municipality of Klos there are 9 zones, 10,356 hectares of territory and in the municipality of Vau i Dejës there are 6 development zones with an area of 9,565 hectares,
In the Municipality of Dibër, there will be 16 zones in which 16,620 hectares will be invested, in the Municipality of Memaliaj there are 3 zones of 8,309 hectares, in Tepelena there are 3 zones of 32,705 hectares.
Recently, the government has also approved new zones in the Krujë municipality, where there are 5 of them with a total area of 14,233 hectares.
In the territory of the Maliq Municipality, 10 areas have been defined where investments will be allowed through the Mountain Package, with a total area of 6,260 hectares.
Likewise, 7 development zones of 126 hectares have been announced in the municipality of Vora.
The types of activities that will be developed in this area are those of an economic development nature; industrial development; and tourist development.
Municipalities have until the end of October to determine priority development areas which, after filtering, will be announced by government decision to further provide access to investment and their development. The first 500 winners of investment projects in these areas will be exempt from taxes for 10 years.
The application of this package is expected to boost economic development and employment in mountainous and rural areas throughout Albania.
