Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the end-of-year conference with journalists

Prime Minister Edi Rama is holding his year-end press conference. At the beginning of his speech, the head of the executive stated that according to the American Cato Institute, Albania has an encouraging position regarding human and economic freedom.
It is ranked 39th in the overall ranking and 9th in all of Eastern Europe, where in terms of economic freedom it ranks ahead of countries like Poland, Bulgaria, and Greece. It is a positive picture, but since good indexes or reports don't make news, I thought I'd share this with you.
"Starting from the economy, we are in a year that in terms of the economy we are among the best and is expected to close with an economic growth of 3.9%, which is a meaningful and highest growth in this basin where we are, while new businesses have increased by 20%. Foreign investments have had an increase of over 10% in the third quarter. The average salary has resulted in 833 euros, which is a significant increase, in a few days the minimum wage will go up to 500 euros and will affect a considerable number of employees in the private and public sectors.
Starting from October of this year, the next indexation of pensions has been carried out, but what is more important is that with the entry of this new year, the indexation of pension increases begins, increasing year after year and it is all foreseen in the government's plans. Starting from January, as we have said, pensions will increase beyond indexation. Meanwhile, the increase that we will make will be significant year after year and thus the urban pension with full years of work will increase by 18,000 old lek per month, which will double in January 2027, triple in January 2028 and so on. The partial urban pension will increase by 8,000 lek per month, the rural pension will increase by 1,000 lek per month, the disability pension will increase by 600 lek per month. The family pension will increase by 700 lek per month.
We also have positive data in vocational education, where we have reached nearly 30% in secondary vocational education, marking a new positive result, but what is worth noting is that employability is very high. For 2024, we had 63% of employed students completing vocational education. The budget for vocational education has increased significantly ," said Prime Minister Rama.
