The Parliamentary Laws Committee approved the Normative Act on fuel excise duty, effective in April 370 thousand euros
The state budget has so far benefited from the increase in hydrocarbon prices by 553 million lekë, while the negative effect of the 20% reduction in oil excise duty is only 37 million lekë in April. In the parliamentary committees, the majority approved the normative act on the reduction in oil, and rejected the opposition's legal proposals for reducing the turnover tax. It was the Laws Committee that approved the normative act on the reduction of the excise duty by 20% whenever the price of oil exceeds 220 lekë per liter and of gasoline above 200 lekë per liter. This fiscal relief, which will be in force until the end of the situation created by the war in the Middle East, was applied for the first time on April 3, when the price of oil reached 233 lekë, but with the reduction in excise duty, citizens paid 224 lekë per liter.
The opposition also sought intervention in the turnover tax. But the power of the 'cards' in the Economy Committee overturned it. The majority argued that the measures taken so far by the government are sufficient to keep the situation under control.
