KAYO signs agreement with Israeli company - On May 8, the aircraft landing test

An agreement was signed this Sunday in the coastal city of Vlora between Albania's state-owned military company, KAYO, and Israeli defense giant Elbit Systems Ltd, paving the way for the reopening of the Aviation School after 18 years. The school is expected to become a regional academy that will train military and civilian pilots, as well as foreign and Albanian air traffic controllers, a significant investment by the Albanian government.

Founded in 1966, Elbit Systems is the Israeli military's leading provider of ground equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles, with factories around the world, marketing its products to militaries in many countries.

Before the signing of this agreement, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku announced that on May 8, the first test landing of the aircraft on the 3.8 kilometer long runway will be carried out at Vlora Airport.

The International Air Transport Association has assessed the application of Vlora International Airport in accordance with international standards and has set the code for airports and ticket sales: VLO

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Rama said: ''Today we make possible an agreement that paves the way for a contract with one of the world's excellences in the field of the defense industry, LB Systems. We are at a historic turning point in the field of defense, a historic turning point that is dictated without question by the global context, but also by the European context. We are in a process of discussions in several directions, but the essence is that we want to reborn our defense industry and our military production industry,'' adds Prime Minister Rama.
