''GDP increased 2.5 times within a decade'' - Rama: Aviation Academy in Vlora, regional
Prime Minister Edi Rama declared from Vlora that the level of Gross Domestic Product today is 2.5 times higher in just a decade. According to him, for 2030, the goal is 35 billion euros.
In a conversation with professors and students of the University of Vlora, Prime Minister Rama said that compared to countries in the region, Albania has the highest level of growth in overall production in the region.
"The source of this table is the IMF and not the Albanian government. So if in the region the Gross Domestic Product has increased by an average of 64%, in Albania it has increased by 109.6%. When we took office, this income was 3,324 euros, while this year it is 10,324 euros, i.e. 3 times higher. Our projection is that in 2030 it will be 15,000 euros. This projection was made with experts from the Ministry of Finance and international experts who work with us," said Rama.
Regarding the launch of the Aviation Academy in Vlora, Rama said that the goal is for it to be a regional academy.
"We will open the Aviation Academy in Vlora and the goal is for it to be a regional academy, where we will also have foreign students to prepare pilots for all types of aircraft, and I am very glad that this is the first step, because then we need to strengthen the rest of the maritime industry. We will soon have another agreement with Ficanteri of Italy to revitalize the maintenance and shipbuilding yards here in Vlora," Rama emphasized.
Prime Minister Rama also spoke about the improvement of the university system over recent years and the ongoing efforts to further develop it.
"We first had to do a major cleanup of the system. We closed 40 higher education institutions that were just doing business.
Today there are 40 joint study programs in all three study cycles in cooperation with international institutions. There are 90 programs in foreign languages. I believe that the University of Vlora has a great untapped potential and I am very confident that we are on the right track'' - Rama added.
