January-October, transfers in euros increased by 33 percent - Rapid growth continues for the second year in a row
National transfers in euros are growing rapidly for the second year in a row. According to data from the Bank of Albania, until the first 10 months of the year in the national payment system in Euro, AIPS Euro, approximately 265 thousand transfers were made in the European currency.
Transfers in Euro have increased by 33% compared to the same period last year. In value, transfers for the 10-month period reached almost 3.3 billion euros, with an annual increase of 27%.
In the month of October, the highest monthly levels of transfers in euros were recorded, both in number and in value, even surpassing the levels of the summer months.
The figures of transfers in euros, both in number and in value, since the end of the 10th month of 2024 have exceeded the values recorded in the full calendar year 2023.
The increase in the number and value of national bank transfers in euros is an indicator of the further increase in the use of the currency in internal economic transactions in Albania.
In recent years, foreign currency inflows into the Albanian economy have increased significantly. This growth seems to be related to the export of services, mainly to tourism, but also to large investments from abroad in the real estate market. Bank of Albania statistics showed that until the end of September, bank deposits in Euros were increasing by 12% compared to a year ago.
