Cocoa import heralds the holidays/ Figures for this product peak in October this

A detailed analysis of foreign trade data shows that the month of October of this year has affected the highest figure of cocoa import in the span of 19 years. Albania imported about 539 million ALL of cocoa in October, marking an increase of 37%.

But what happened to the import of cocoa in Albania? The price of cocoa has risen rapidly in various countries of the world, reaching an all-time high, due to the dry weather that affected the cocoa harvest in West Africa. This happened as the weather conditions this year were harsher than usual in the main cocoa producing countries.

This change in the price of cocoa in the markets may have also affected the high value of imports for this product in our country, however INSTAT data show that cocoa imports have not only increased in value, but also in volume. According to the figures, the import of cocoa in volume marked the highest value in October, recording another record.

Another factor that may have influenced is the demand during the year-end period. Fiscal periods reflect changes in consumer behavior and economic activity. The last months of the year, including October, often mark an increase in demand for cocoa due to preparations for the end of the year holidays, where the use of cocoa for various desserts is common.

If we look at the historical data of the import of this product by month, we notice that the highest values throughout the year are marked in the last three months. Foreign trade data for October show that the holiday economy is starting to pick up.
