Italians interested in Pashaliman Naval Base - The aim is to rebuild the shipyard for the production of Navy ships
Italian investors are interested in reviving and putting into operation the Pashalimani Naval Base. The news was announced by Defense Minister Pirri Vengu, who shared a video on his social networks showing that the Technical Assessment of the well-known Albanian base has already begun. In his post, Vengu writes that “The technical assessment with Italian partners has begun with the aim of reviving the shipyard for the production, repair and maintenance of Navy ships.”
According to the head of the defense ministry, the interest of foreigners to invest in our country's military capacity is high. Vengu writes that "In the last 9 months, 20 defense industry manufacturing companies have expressed their interest in cooperating with KAYO, the state-owned military production company "Made in Albania".
According to him, during the months of June and July 2025, negotiations with three of them were finalized, paving the way for the establishment of 3 new enterprises where the state is a shareholder in the production of:
Armored vehicles & civil emergency vehicles;
Uniforms and personal equipment;
Ammunition;
The minister also announced that we are continuing negotiations for the production of light weapons, as well as the assembly of artillery systems, missiles and combat drones.
