Investments in the face of structural challenges - What needs to be done to improve the business climate?

Businesses in Albania continue to perceive the business climate as significantly influenced by several key factors, which remain ongoing challenges to economic development and attracting investment.
According to the Investment Council survey, three critical elements dominate the assessment of entrepreneurship: the efficiency of the judicial system and the protection of business rights, the level of corruption and institutional transparency, as well as the quality and costs of the workforce.
These factors are closely interrelated. A weak judicial system and perceptions of corruption reduce trust and legal certainty for business, while problems with the workforce and its costs directly affect productivity and competitiveness.
In addition to these, businesses also list as important issues the level and ease of tax procedures, the clarity and stability of the legal and fiscal framework, as well as opportunities for financing and access to credit or investment.
Attention also remains on political stability, the consistency of public policies, the quality of infrastructure, including transport, energy and telecommunications, as well as macroeconomic stability, with a focus on inflation, exchange rates and economic growth.
According to the survey findings, improving these elements is considered essential for creating a more favorable business climate and promoting sustainable investments in the country.
