Snow in the north and southeast of the country - ARRSH: Drivers should be equipped with winter tires
During the night, the country's territory was covered by moderate rainfall, while snowfall began in the northern and southeastern areas.
The Albanian Road Authority informs that, despite the difficult weather conditions, all national road axes are open and vehicle traffic continues normally.
According to the ARA, snowfall has been recorded on several road axes in the northern region of the country, specifically on the axes Bajram Curri-Valbonë, Ura e Bujanit-Qafë Morinë, Bujan-Qafë Morinë (customs), Sopot-Kërrnaj, Qafë Mejdan-Tropojë-Buçaj, Fierzë-Bajram Curri, Bulqizë-Peshkopi, Kukës-Shishtavec, Kukës-Bushtricë, Kukës-Krumë, as well as in Bogë-Theth and Dedaj-Razëm.
In the central region, snowfall has been observed on the Trau i Dajti–Qafë Priskë–Qafë Molë axis, while in the southern region, snow has included the Qafë Thanë–Kapshticë, Qukës–Qafë Plloçë, Maliq–Kufi i Gramshit, Korçë–Voskopojë, Boboshticë–Dardhe, Ersekë–Leskovik–Tre Urat axes, as well as the Muzina area.
Road maintenance contractors are on the ground without interruption, with snow removal vehicles, cleaning road axes and distributing salt in order to prevent frost and guarantee traffic safety.
Meanwhile, the State Police informs all road users that due to snowfall, traffic has been difficult in several road segments, mainly in the mountainous areas of the Shkodër, Kukës, Dibër, Korçë and Saranda regions.
Traffic Police services and general patrols are engaged in the field, with the aim of preventing road accidents and assisting drivers in case of need.
The police also announce that trucks will not be allowed to circulate on the Qafë Thanë axis for a period of two to three hours, until the road is cleared by snow removal vehicles.
Meanwhile, drivers are urged to be careful while driving, respect road signs, and be equipped with winter tires and chains.
