Investments in Berat, 33 euros per inhabitant - Municipality increases income, potential from tourism

The Municipality of Berat has recorded an increasing trend in revenue over the past year.
The most important part of its revenues is taken up by other local taxes, with approximately 138 million lek or 1.3 million euros. About 85 million lek have been collected from the cleaning fee, about 58 million lek from the infrastructure impact tax, about 50 million lek from the building tax, other non-tax revenues account for 30 million lek, while the agricultural land tax contributes with approximately 19 million lek.
In terms of expenditures, Berat is no exception to other administrative units, where the majority of the budget is spent on personnel expenses, with around 644 million lek or 6.4 million euros in 2024, and an increase compared to the previous year.
Operating expenses from own revenues are recorded at 347 million lek, or about 3.4 million euros, while capital expenses are only 242 million lek or 2.4 million euros and are down compared to the previous year.
According to the 2023 census data, the Municipality of Berat has about 65 thousand inhabitants.
The per capita income of the Municipality of Berat is 52 euros, making it one of the municipalities with average income, while the total income per capita is 160 euros, ranking among the 8 municipalities with the lowest income.
The total expenditure per resident of the Berat municipality is 182 euros and is included in the list of units with the lowest expenditure.
While investment expenses are only 33 euros per inhabitant.
Despite this data, the municipality of Berat has high potential for tourism, which has a year-round development trend, which would contribute to increased consumption, business expansion, and the economic strengthening of the municipality.
