Investment of around 95 million lek for the automation of the Vau i Dejës HPP. Competition opens/ Aim: increasing the efficiency of energy production

The Albanian Electric Power Corporation of Tirana has announced the opening of the competition for the implementation of the automatic regulation system for new generation units through the Vau i Dejës HPP and automatic implementation.
According to the document at the Public Procurement Agency, imbalances will be regulated through hydroelectric power plants and pumped storage. The improvements aim to increase the quality, accuracy of service provision, but also the range of services offered.
According to the document in the Public Procurement Agency, KESH will implement this project with the aim of automatically regulating imbalances caused by renewable generation units, such as: the photovoltaic system at the Vau i Dejës HPP, and will be ready for automatic regulation for photovoltaic systems that KESH will implement in the future, such as: the photovoltaic system at the Belsh dam, etc. Also, this investment will improve the performance of the Albanian power system.
Due to the nature and profile of generation, photovoltaic plants cause continuous imbalances, mainly during days with unstable weather. In unstable atmospheric conditions during the autumn-winter-spring seasons, imbalances result in about 30% according to the monthly average and up to 70-90% on specific days, while during the summer they are even lower, about 10-20%, the document states.
To ensure the smooth running of energy production, software and hardware will be improved and replaced with new, state-of-the-art products.
The limit fund made available for this project is 94 million and 551 thousand lekë.
