Ibrahimaj: 12 million euros for youth employment in 2026, doubling of funds for

The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, participated today in the conference "YOUTH 2030 - Employment, Skills, Entrepreneurship", a meeting dedicated to young people who have been employed and trained through government programs, where Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present.

In her speech, the minister said that while discussions on the 2026 budget have focused mainly on pensions and salaries, little has been said about the steps being taken for young people, who constitute the basis of the country's sustainable development.

Ms. Ibrahimaj informed that in the 2026 budget, funds for employment promotion programs are doubled, reaching 12 million euros dedicated only to young people.

According to her, investing in human capital is crucial for the future of the economy, as economic growth cannot continue without empowering the younger generation.

The Minister brought concrete examples of results, mentioning the Coding Program, through which 2,000 young professionals have been trained, most of whom have no background in the field of technology, but with will and vision.

They are employed thanks to full funding of training when they are unemployed or co-financing when they are employed and want to increase their skills.

Likewise, thousands of other young people have been included in vocational training programs in fields such as mechanics, tourism, energy, ports and airports, to respond to the real needs of the labor market.

Ibrahimaj also spoke about the role of entrepreneurship, which he described as "the heart of the Albanian economy," where 97% of businesses are small and born from an idea.

"Just a day ago, the winners of the self-employment fund were announced, through which 240 young people will be supported with 1 million lek each to start their business. Through the startup fund, 200 innovative businesses have been supported in the last two years, some of which are employing young people supported in the Youth Guarantee Program," said the Minister.

Minister Ibrahimaj said that youth unemployment has fallen to its lowest historical level, reaching 15%, from over 30% when this majority began governing the country.

Ms. Ibrahimaj expressed her belief that by 2030, this level will fall below 10%, thanks to additional funds of 60 million euros coming from the state budget and the EU, dedicated to the employment and training of young people.

Minister Ibrahimaj also stated that starting from January 1, AKPA will become a unique portal, where all job vacancies in the public administration will be published, in order for every citizen to have full and simple access to the employment offer in the country, through the puna.gov.al portal.

The Minister called on the young people present to become ambassadors of the programs they are involved in, as spreading information and increasing participation is key to achieving the common development goals by 2030.
