Avian Flu/ MBZHR: Monitoring and rapid control of the case in Mzeze. No new

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced today that since 30.10.2024, there have been no new outbreaks of Bird Flu and that immediately after receiving the Alert notification for the confirmation of the Avian Influenza disease in a family yard farm, in Mzeze village, Kashar Administrative Unit took measures to monitor and control the case.

For the early detection of the disease and limiting its spread, the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority has taken measures and monitored 13,907 poultry farms of different sizes or 135,651 poultry heads, from which they have been identified and 39 new farms.

During the controls, no clinical suspicions were encountered and according to the announcement, the AKU has not identified any problems during the 70 controls in the trading of food products, originating from poultry: eggs and chicken meat. A total of 354 samples have arrived at the Institute of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine, which have turned out to be negative. The Institute of Public Health has not identified suspected or positive cases of Avian Influenza in humans.

As a result of the resolution of the case, the Regional Veterinary Service has released today on 19.11.2024 from quarantine the positive center with Avian Influenza and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported to the World Organization of Animal Health the measures taken and the resolution of the case. The National Crisis Center held today in the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development the closing meeting for the Alert case and the analysis of the monitoring progress.

Commercial activity for live birds in the municipalities of Tirana, Vorë and Kamëz returns to normality and the Minister's Order No. 886, dated 30.10.2024 "On taking restrictive measures for the prevention and control of avian influenza disease in poultry, in open environments and in live animal markets", is repealed.

Regardless of the quick solution and efficient prevention of the case, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development instructs poultry breeders throughout the country to take measures to implement biosecurity in farms and environments where they breed poultry, as well as to purchase or move poultry, only after being authorized by the Official Veterinarian of the Service with the Animal Movement Veterinary Certificate.
