Albanian tobacco to Bosnia - About 140 tons were exported in 10 months
Tobacco produced in Albania is mainly exported to Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to data from the Institute of Statistics, during the first 10 months of the year, the tobacco grown in the areas of Shkodra and Dumre went to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Just last month, 3,000 kg of tobacco were exported to this country, while a much smaller figure, 76 kg, went to Germany.
According to other data from Instat, Albania also exported tobacco to neighboring countries such as Greece and North Macedonia during the first months of the year.
However, tobacco production in Albania has suffered a significant decline year after year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on average, about 2,500 tons of tobacco are produced each year, of which 1,100 tons are exported. So far, according to Instat figures, Albania has exported about 140 tons of cigarettes to other countries.
This export, however, is much lower than expected in previous years. The rest of the production, about 1,400 tons of tobacco, is consumed domestically, often informally, where tobacco is sold in bulk pack formats and more often in informal pack forms.
