ADF opens the competition for urban transformation in Vlora - Investment of over 688 million lek for recreational spaces, modern market and parking

The Albanian Development Fund has announced the opening of the competition for the construction of multimodal mobility hubs, construction of an underground parking building and a recreational park in Vlora. The estimated fund limit is 509 million and 44 thousand lekë.
Referring to the document at the Public Procurement Agency, this intervention aims to improve parking capacities in Vlora, especially in high-traffic areas, facilitating the movement and circulation of vehicles.
The area under consideration is located near the “Pavarësia” square and north of the city port. During the summer season, the city experiences a significant increase in the number of visitors, which often multiplies the local population and has a direct impact on the urban infrastructure. According to the document, an underground parking lot with 1 underground floor will be built and a recreational space will be created above it. Also, the redevelopment of public spaces will create safe and attractive environments for the community, offering opportunities for recreational, cultural and social activities, which contribute to improving the quality of life and promoting civic involvement.
On the other hand, the Albanian Development Fund has also opened a competition for investments in the infrastructure of markets, commercial spaces, multifunctional spaces, and commercial streets in model development areas in Vlora, phase 2. The estimated fund limit is 179 million and 339 thousand lekë.
The Vlora market is one of the most vibrant areas for local trade. The open market consists of open commercial units, only covered with a shelter or tent, with stalls exposed in front with various items for sale, set up by the respective traders themselves. Their number is numerous, scattered sporadically along the alleys and buildings. Their surfaces vary, their placement as well as the distances from each other have no set rule. According to the document, modern and functional structures will be created with large and organized spaces for trade, and an appropriate infrastructure will be created to accommodate daily activities. The spaces are divided into areas dedicated to sales, storage and services, ensuring easy and efficient circulation for customers.
Meanwhile, according to the project, the reconstruction of existing roads will also be carried out, ensuring an optimal road network for the circulation of motor vehicles and pedestrians in the area, offering convenience and safety and for the comfortable functioning of the Vlora market. These roads will have limited traffic, as they will be multi-use squares.
The implementation of this project will increase the value of assets in the area, and the quality of life for residents will improve.
