2nd Albania-Japan Business Forum/ Ibrahimaj: Economic cooperation and bilateral investments in focus

The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, participated in the second Albania-Japan business forum, a key platform for deepening and expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
The forum brought together senior institutional and business community representatives from Albania and Japan, including key actors in promoting bilateral investment and economic development, including the Ambassador of Japan to our country, Kikuko Kato, and the President of the Albania-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Avni Ponari.
In her speech, Minister Ibrahimaj emphasized that organizing the forum for the second consecutive year reflects a sustained commitment to turning interest into real investments. Ibrahimaj noted that the first edition laid the foundations for identifying cooperation potentials, while this edition aims to concretize them into tangible projects and partnerships.
Referring to current economic indicators, the Minister underlined that trade exchanges between the two countries still remain below their potential, with Albanian exports to Japan amounting to around 850 million lek and imports reaching around 3.6 billion lek.
She also highlighted the still limited presence of Japanese companies in Albania, emphasizing that this situation represents a significant opportunity for expanding cooperation, especially in value-added sectors.
The focus of the forum was on strategic sectors with high development potential, such as manufacturing, clean energy, infrastructure and logistics, tourism and technology. These sectors, the Minister emphasized, offer concrete opportunities for investment and integration into international supply chains.
During the event, support instruments for foreign investors were also presented, including accelerated procedures for strategic investors, access to modern infrastructure, and support policies for innovation.
"These measures are part of the Albanian government's ongoing efforts to improve the business climate and facilitate foreign investments," the Minister declared.
The forum aims to serve as a concrete cooperation mechanism, enabling the identification of priority projects, the creation of business-to-business partnerships, and the building of a sustainable investment base between Albania and Japan.
The President of the Albania-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Avni Ponari, also praised the importance of the forum as a concrete platform for dialogue and cooperation, emphasizing that the meeting aims to further bring the two economies closer together and transform ideas into viable projects.
He also underlined that the cooperation to date and direct contacts between business communities have confirmed the potential for sustainable and long-term partnerships.
Minister Ibrahimaj reconfirmed her commitment to supporting any initiative that contributes to increased investment and joint economic development, describing this cooperation as an important opportunity for the country's economic future.
