Agricultural exports start the year on a "good footing" - Foreign markets demand more Albanian products
The positive trend of exports of "Made in Albania" fruits and vegetables to foreign markets continues. According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, exports during January 2025 marked an increase of 34% in value and 14.5% in quantity, compared to the same period a year earlier.
In the latest publication on foreign trade, data from the Institute of Statistics regarding the groups of vegetables and edible fruits show that during the past month, the main weight of growth was held by vegetables, with about 6 thousand tons more exported compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, according to INSTAT data, fruit exports marked a significant decline, going from 7.1 thousand tons sold in foreign markets in January last year, to only 2.9 thousand tons last month.
Regarding the value of exports of agricultural products, in January 2024 they reached 680 million lek, while in January 2025 they reached 900 million lek. Here too, the value of fruit exports has halved.
However, despite this decline, the significant increase in vegetable exports kept the total balance at a positive level, reaching 12.8 thousand tons for the first month of this year.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the report so far shows that agricultural exports are on track to reach the target of $1 billion within this decade.
