The latest figures on accommodation structures for the month of December now give us a clearer picture of the entire year 2024. Once again, the figures speak of tourism records throughout the year we left behind, but interesting data is also noted among the numbers. The total number of visitors throughout the year was recorded at almost 3.2 million, up from 2.3 million during 2023. According to data analyzed by "Scan Intel", the annual increase in the number of visitors in 2024 is recorded at 36%. The largest increase was recorded by foreign visitors with 55%, registering at 2.2 million.
But in which periods did tourists peak at the structures?
In the summer! The highest number is recorded during the classic summer months, but data regarding annual growth shows that this trend may change. The highest annual increase in the number of visitors is observed in the months of April and October.
On the other hand, the number of nights spent in accommodation facilities also appears positive. Throughout 2024, around 7.4 million nights spent were recorded in our country, up from around 6 million in 2023. The annual increase in this indicator is recorded at 23.9%.
"Scan Intel" has, among other things, analyzed the number of foreign visitors and their nights of stay. According to figures from the "Institute of Statistics", about 5.2 million nights of stay by foreign visitors were recorded in accommodation structures.
Let's look in detail at how the nights spent in each month of last year were presented. We see the same situation again. So, they were recorded more in the summer, but the annual growth in the months of June, July, August and September was lower. So, the growth rate in these months was many times lower than in the months of February, April and October. In fact, the growth rate of nights spent is even lower than that of the number of visitors. The fact that there is a significant increase for months other than summer is related to the two main characteristics that tourism has shown in recent years. First, it is the extension in time and secondly the extension in territory.
