The Director General of Customs inspects the Bllate Customs Branch: Full implementation of the plan of measures and normal coping with the increased flow

The Director General of Customs, Besmir Beja, conducted an inspection today at the Bllatë Customs Branch, following the measures taken to cope with the situation created by the blockage of the Librazhd-Elbasan axis and the diversion of the flow of vehicles towards this border crossing point.
Following the agreement reached with the Macedonian side and inter-institutional coordination, since yesterday the trucks that, due to the road situation, have not been able to pass through the Qafë-Thane Customs Branch, are using the Bllata border crossing point for entry/exit into the Albanian customs territory. This has led to an immediate increase in the volume of work in this branch, requiring the reorganization of human and logistical resources.
During the field visit, Director Beja closely monitored the implementation of the action plan, the reinforcement of service counters and the processing of vehicles at entry and exit. In his statement, he said: “Together with colleagues from the General Directorate, we are here in Bllate to monitor the implementation of the action plan. I am pleased to see that there has been regular implementation, despite the increase in the load of this customs point, as can be seen, everything is moving normally.”
The General Directorate of Customs has engaged additional personnel and taken measures to guarantee the fastest processing of customs formalities, in order to avoid delays and support economic operators in this temporary situation.
Albanian Customs remains in constant coordination with the counterpart authorities of North Macedonia and other responsible institutions, monitoring the situation in real time and guaranteeing the continuity of the circulation of goods until the situation on the road axis is fully normalized.
