"We will increase revenues from taxes and customs" - Minister Malaj takes stock of "Finance" for 2025 and lists the objectives for 2026

The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, at the extended meeting of the Socialists held this Thursday reported on the economic activity throughout 2025. Malaj said that Albania has made significant progress compared to the Western Balkan countries, while emphasizing that the objective is to increase revenues from taxes and customs.
"Economic growth for 2025 is forecast at 3.9%. This growth is significantly higher compared to the Western Balkans average. In the last 5 years, GDP has grown by about 20%, the highest figure in the region.
Unemployment at a historic low of 8.1%. This rate is significantly lower than the rate in the Western Balkans.
Wage performance has been on an upward trend. Albania has absorbed the highest percentage of foreign direct investment.
"Revenues from taxes and customs were 6.7 billion euros, with an increase compared to 2024, we anticipate increasing these revenues further ," said Malaj.
Malaj also spoke about the objectives of the Ministry of Finance for 2026.
"First, the draft law "on Compulsory Earthquake Insurance". Secondly, the agricultural insurance scheme for the insurance of agricultural products, we also have the commitment to align with European legislation and be accredited for the IPARD III program within 2026", said Malaj.
The Minister stated that all citizens outside of Tirana should have their properties revalued by a private appraiser.
