Arbëresh Cultural Day in the Vatican/ Gonxhja e Salla: Strengthening cultural and economic ties with the Arbëresh

In the Vatican, the precious Arbëresh heritage was honored and promoted with the Arbëresh Cultural Day, an initiative of the Albanian Representation to the Holy See and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Among the many mayors of the areas where Arbëresh communities live in Italy, consuls, ambassadors and researchers, the Albanian Minister of Tourism and Culture Blendi Gonxhja and the Minister of Agriculture Andis Salla also participated in this activity, who became part of the promotion of the precious Arbëresh heritage, one of the strongest testimonies of Albanian resistance, identity and contribution to the European space.
Minister Gonxhe announced in a post on social networks that "With new cultural projects, such as the Albanian Cultural Center in Italy, the dossier for the "Great Weather of the Arbëresh" at UNESCO and the creation of the National Arbëresh Museum, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports is continuing its work to strengthen bridges of memory, cooperation and the future to promote Albanian culture and increase our cultural presence in the international arena. Together in this noble mission, preserving and enriching our heritage as an inseparable part of European identity. While the Minister of Agriculture Andis Salla said in his speech at the event that the Arbëresh remain one of the strongest testimonies of the Albanian identity that has been fully integrated into the heart of Europe, without losing its roots.
As part of the event, a fair of Albanian and Arbëresh products was also organized, where about 25 companies from Albania participated, mainly producers of olive oil, wines, medicinal herbs and other traditional products. Minister Salla emphasized that this fair represents a valuable opportunity for the creation of new business partnerships and for the promotion of Albanian products in international markets. He pointed out the high potential of economic cooperation in sectors such as viticulture, olive growing, livestock farming, agritourism and gastronomy and underlined the commitment of the Albanian Government to strengthen relations with Arbëresh communities and expand institutional cooperation in the function of rural development and the promotion of a common cultural identity.
