Sending and receiving money now requires only a phone number or card: Visa

As the global real-time payments market continues to grow and is expected to reach a value of $34.16 billion by the end of this year, Visa has enabled a service for instant money transfers, both domestically and internationally, using just a phone number or payment card.

With just a few clicks, individuals, businesses and government institutions can quickly and securely send funds to another account, via the bank's mobile banking app or official website. The money is received in real time – which is the main advantage of this service.

“With the launch of the Visa Direct service in Albania, we are offering users the opportunity to fulfill their financial obligations in an instant, secure and very simple way. Through innovations in payments, we aim to keep pace with the changing habits and real needs of our users, ” said Ana Drašković, Vice President and General Manager of Visa for Southeast Europe.

Visa Direct uses advanced security technologies built on the VisaNet network – a global payment system that has processed over 3.3 trillion transactions in 200 countries and territories over the past 25 years. With multiple layers of data protection, users can be confident that their financial information is protected during every transfer. VisaNet is built to protect all parties involved in transactions and has been using artificial intelligence to detect and prevent fraud for more than 30 years.

The launch of Visa Direct in Albania also contributes to the strengthening of digital financial services in the region. In many countries of Southeastern Europe, digital money transfers are becoming an essential tool for supporting small and medium-sized businesses, as well as for consumers seeking faster and more efficient financial management. Offering these innovations also helps reduce the informal economy and increase the transparency of transactions, positively impacting the long-term GDP growth of the local economy.

The Visa Direct service was first introduced in 2013. Today, it is available in more than 190 markets worldwide and connects 11 billion users in 160 different currencies.
