Doubled budget for social housing - From soft loans to rent payments. What are the supports for families?
For the 2024-2025 period, the budget for the national social housing program increased by more than double compared to 2021. In this program, one of the priorities is improving housing conditions.
Thus, the families that benefited in 2023 are 650, while in 2025 it reached 1253. The categories of families that benefited are those families without income, the elderly without support, people with disabilities, families with economic assistance, the Roma and Egyptian minorities.
Regarding the soft loan program, for administration employees who have benefited from loans with 0% interest, in 2023 and 2024 there are 300 quotas, respectively, while in 2025 this number has increased, reaching 530 quotas in total.
As for soft loans for municipalities, which have a 3% interest rate, in 2022 they benefited 1,200 quotas, while in 2024 it reached 2,000 quotas in 26 municipalities.
One of the social housing strategies remains rent subsidies, from which 1,500 families benefited in 2021, 2,100 families in 2024, and in the current year, rent subsidies were provided to 3,000 families.
Meanwhile, 5-year housing programs define affordable housing and groups in need, assist in the design of local programs, and prioritize and budget medium-term objectives.
