Berisha presents the program for pensioners - "Every pension over 200 euros will increase by 20%"
The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has presented this political force's program for pensioners. According to him, every pensioner will receive at least 200 euros per month, while other pensions above 200 euros will increase by 20 percent.
Our goal is to come out on top of the countries in the region for salaries and pensions. Why come out? We are the richest country. There is no other country around us that has our wealth. We have endless natural resources, we have extraordinary tourist potential. We have little land, but among the most fertile. So we were at the top of other countries for salaries and pensions, today we have dropped to the bottom of the countries in the region.
Berisha added that in the first 100 days of government, several other facilities will be determined. According to him, pensioners will buy food the same as salaried workers, but the state will refund them the 20 percent VAT on the price.
We will introduce a consumer card, which every pensioner and every low-income earner will have and will receive a VAT refund of about 450 euros per year. It will cost approximately 3 current pensions. We will expand the list of reimbursement for medicines. Two things about medicines. I guarantee that unsafe medicines will not enter Albania categorically because we will restore the law that they had, which prohibited the marketing of medicines that were not marketed in at least two EU countries. Medicines that are marketed in the EU are controlled by the EU Medicines Agency and are certain that they have the active substance that works and there are no other dangerous substances.
The democratic leader also said that the price of electricity will be reduced from 9.5 lek, which is currently 7 lek per kilowatt-hour, and that the water tariff for pensioners and citizens with low salaries will be halved.
