Elbasan-Rrogozhinë Highway, works progress - Balluku: On July 1, 2026, we will provide a solution to the Bradashesh roundabout

The works on the Elbasan-Rrogozhinë road segment, the fifth lot, part of Corridor VIII, are progressing at a rapid pace. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, has inspected the works at the site, from where she stated that the work is expected to be completed in June 2026.
"We are in one of the construction sites that is progressing better, I would say, in the Vlll corridor. Especially this part that starts from the Bardhesh roundabout, where we have started the design and we will urgently solve the problem that already exists with the traffic load at the exit of the Tirana-Elbasan highway and then the continuation to Lekaj. We have started work on the first phase, we are talking about about 18 km, divided into several phases. This is the fifth phase. Compared to all the other phases, we have the best progress here with 60%, while the entire project is somewhere at 59%. It is important to say that we have a deadline and it is the deadline of June 2026 and we want to completely complete according to the contractual deadlines, the first 18 km of this very important segment, leaving the secondary road to be functional, what is today the national road and turning into a type A highway with a speed of 130 km/h. We have 2 lanes on each side, 3.75 m wide, and one extra lane on each side, which is the emergency lane, 3 m wide. So we have 3 lanes on both sides."
On the other hand, Balluku stressed that the Elbasan bypass must be completed by July 1st of next year to relieve the traffic that is being created.
"An emergency solution is needed for the 3 km connecting Tirana-Elbasan, around the Bradashesh roundabout, part of Corridor 8. The first 3 km of the Elbasan bypass must be completed by July 1, 2026."
Corridor VIII is considered the core infrastructure project in our country, while the total amount for the implementation of this road work is around 350 million euros in public funds for 14 segments.
