Flights, triple-digit growth compared to 2019 - Low-cost airlines and promotion are yielding measurable results in tourism

Albania is gaining more and more popularity among foreign tourists, especially after the end of the pandemic. Tourism has become one of the fastest growing sectors in the country and is becoming an important engine of the national economy.
One of the main reasons for this development is related to the entry of low-cost airlines into the market, a trend that has also occurred in other parts of Europe, bringing a significant increase in the number of flights to and from Albania.
According to Eurostat data, Albania has recorded an exceptional performance during September 2025. Compared to the same period before the pandemic, the number of commercial flights has increased by around 165.7%, ranking the country at the top of Europe and the region for the growth rate in this sector.
Meanwhile, the annual growth, compared to September last year, is estimated at around 3%.
During the first nine months of the current year, the total number of commercial flights is estimated at around 52,800. In September alone, around 7,000 flights were recorded.
According to figures from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, from January to September 2025, Albania welcomed 10,228,686 visitors, marking an increase of 6% compared to the same period in 2024.
This positive trend testifies to the sustainable development of the tourism sector and to the joint commitment to promoting Albania as a welcoming and increasingly attractive destination.
