Complaints about energy overbilling - 2-category tariff, family members can object to bills at ERE
While the 2-category electricity tariff may be followed by an increase in complaints about meter reading deadlines, household subscribers have the right to file complaints not only with the Electricity Distribution Operator, but also with the Energy Regulatory Authority. Complaints with the latter can be filed by any electricity consumer who does not receive a timely response to a complaint they may have filed with OSHEE or remains dissatisfied with the solution provided.
The complaint is filed online, through the official ERE website, where the electronic form is available, with the data required for its review. It must identify the party or parties believed to be responsible for the matter addressed in the complaint, the action or omission that is believed to be in violation of applicable laws, as well as an estimate of the financial burden, if any. The complaint must also contain the corrective action, relief or compensation requested for the damage caused.
According to the new tariffs, families consuming up to 700 kWh per month will pay for energy at 8.5 lek/kWh, excluding VAT. Meanwhile, for families consuming from 701 kWh per month and above, there is no change, as the price will continue to be 9.5 lek/kWh, excluding VAT. After changing the tariff scheme, OSHEE itself has emphasized the need for meter readings to be carried out within the 30 calendar day period, as set out in the general terms and conditions of the universal electricity supply service contract for end customers.
