New ambulances for prisons – AAPSK in support of strengthening the capacities of law enforcement structures
The Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets (AAPSK) has supported the General Directorate of Prisons to further improve the infrastructure and available means, through new category A ambulances.
The 15 new vehicles, all manufactured in 2025, dedicated to the transport of convicts or detainees facing health problems, are part of a project to modernize the medical fleet in the Albanian penitentiary system.
The project is financed by the special fund administered by the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets (AAPSK), with the decision taken by the Inter-institutional Committee for Measures against Organized Crime. Through this decision, the financing of the supply of the DPP with 8 category A ambulances was enabled, as part of the commitment to place assets seized and confiscated from crime in the function of law enforcement structures and in the service of the community.
The funds will be distributed to all prison institutions in the country, strengthening logistical capacities and health care for prisoners and detainees.
The AAPSK continues to play a key role in the effective use of seized and confiscated assets, transforming them into mechanisms for strengthening the rule of law, improving the infrastructure of public institutions, and generating revenue for the state budget. This is one of the most efficient ways to increase the impact of justice in society and to ensure that assets obtained from criminal activity are transformed into valuable resources for the public interest.
