EU opens photo exhibition in Tirana Gonzato: Proud that Albania is part of this journey
The photographic exhibition "Your Lenses. Your History. Our Europe!", the product of a photography competition organized by the European Union with the participation of young people from 6 Western Balkan countries, has arrived in Tirana.
The theme that inspired 183 young people to apply was the power of sport to unite Europeans across borders, to promote shared values and to celebrate diverse identities. A professional jury selected 18 winners from this competition, 3 for each country in the region.
“Today, we are not just revealing photographs, but amplifying voices. The voices of young people from across the Western Balkans who have used their cameras to tell us how they see Europe, how they live its values and how they imagine its future. This perspective fully aligns with our approach and the way the EU engages with young people, civil society representatives and local artists in Albania: with the EU Delegation constantly fostering creativity, generating space for civil dialogue and providing platforms that can reflect the aspirations of the Albanian people for EU integration and their vision of what the EU stands for”, said Gonzato.
This exhibition was previously held in Belgrade, Podgorica and Skopje, and will next be moved to Pristina and Sarajevo.
“Similar to arts and culture, through the theme of sport, this exhibition captures something truly powerful: the idea that Europe is not just a geography; it is a community of values. Sport offers a unique lens through which we tell the story of who we are and the fundamental values that unite the Western Balkans and the European Union. As EU Ambassador to Albania, I am particularly proud that Tirana is part of this journey. Albania’s young people, like their peers across the region, continue to show us that the future of Europe is already here, and it is alive, talented and deeply committed to a more united and inclusive continent,” said the Ambassador.
The exhibition will remain open until July 29. This initiative is designed to showcase the creativity, perspectives, unity of purpose and common European spirit of young people across the Western Balkans.
