Civil Protection Committee meeting held/Measures taken to increase fire preparedness
In the conditions of the heat wave and the increased risk of fires, a meeting of the Civil Protection Committee was held today, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, with the participation of cabinet members Ervin Hoxha and Albana Koçiu. This meeting was held to mobilize the entire body and the chain of response to civil emergencies at the national level.
At this meeting, a plan of measures to increase the preparedness of state structures in dealing with emergency situations from the north to the south of the country was approved. The focus was on the prefects of the regions and mayors of the municipalities most exposed to the risk of fires.
The measures taken include:
-Increasing the level of readiness of local troops, which will be at the full disposal of the prefects;
-Continuous monitoring of the territory and immediate reporting of any incident;
-Strategic positioning of forces in risk areas to guarantee faster intervention;
-Air intervention, with priority given to residential and protected areas;
-Cooperation with the European Civil Protection Mechanism to strengthen response capacities.
The Civil Protection Committee, as the highest inter-institutional authority for emergency management, has engaged all relevant structures: the Armed Forces, the State Police, the National Emergency, the Forestry Services, transport authorities, meteorological institutions and all civil protection links at the national level.
