93.75 million lek for the Librazhd-Prrenjas landslide/ Albanian Road Authority prepares the tender for the alternative road
The landslide system on the Librazhd - Prrenjas axis will cost 93,750,000 lekë. The Albanian Road Authority has published the tender procedure with the Public Procurement Agency, which will be negotiated, without notice. This means that the selection of the company that will carry out the works for the alternative road will be contracted directly, without conducting an open competition.
The landslide at the point known as “Arrat e Gurrës” blocked the movement of vehicles towards the southeast from the main axis for 11 days, while currently the passage is done through a temporary diversion, built next to the previous existing position. This is until the full realization of the alternative route, which will be in the Shkumbin riverbed and integrated with the railway body.
The temporary segment operates with construction site signage and, temporarily, will be unpaved until the layers stabilize, after which the final paving will be carried out.
Authorities have stated that the landslide in this segment is not related to the investment for Corridor VIII, but occurred due to natural causes. Meanwhile, some experts state that the landslide was a result of the works carried out for the construction of the new axis of Corridor VIII, while civil society organizations have raised numerous concerns regarding the interventions in the bed and banks of the Shkumbin River.
Currently, traffic on the Librazhd-Prrenjas axis is open to all vehicles, including heavy tonnage, but respecting the 8.2 ton load per axle.
