272 checks per month for oil - 13 cases with problems, in 2024 consumption increased by over 59 thousand tons
Energy products placed on the market for consumption, such as oil or natural gas, have been the focus of controls regarding their traceability and whether they have been marked or not. Official data shows that during 2024, approximately 59 thousand tons more energy products were placed on the market, which indicates a significant increase in their consumption by citizens.
The Energy Products Sector at the Excise Control Directorate during the period January - July 2024 coordinated the work and daily activities with the GFI concessionaire, a collaboration that consisted of tracking, verifying and controlling the marking of energy products put into circulation in the territory.
According to official data from customs, a total of 2,176 controls were carried out during this period, or about 272 controls per month.
3,200 tests/analyses have also been conducted, or about 400 tests/analyses per month. The checks carried out have resulted in 13 cases being found unmarked, 6 of them in May alone.
Regarding unmarked cases, all verification and punishment procedures have been carried out according to the legislation in force.
In addition to the above controls, 4 controls were also carried out on fiscal operators, one of which resulted in a violation, for which measures were taken in accordance with legal provisions.
Meanwhile, in the period following the termination of the branding concession contract, employees of the energy products sector have been engaged in joint group controls/verifications with employees of the Operational Investigation Department at the DPD. This cooperation has continued until December 31, 2024 based on the Operational Plan approved by the head of the institution, a plan which aimed at the control and supervision of energy products.
During this period, it has been possible to prevent violations and raise awareness among operators regarding the results of the quantities of energy products disposed of for consumption in the territory during 2024.
