10 million euros in sovereign guarantees for agricultural lending - 2025 budget changes, 5.5 million euros transferred to the investment scheme
The government has made available the amount of 10 million euros in the form of a sovereign guarantee so that businesses in the agricultural sector can obtain loans for their investments and expansion.
The recently approved normative act on budget amendments, published in the Official Gazette, stipulates that the fund defined in the 2025 state budget law for the annual increase in central government guarantees for the benefit of third-party beneficiaries up to 1 billion lek or 10 million euros, will also include the policy of supporting businesses in the agricultural sector with state loan guarantees.
Regarding agricultural support, several funding allocations have also been made, specifically under the rural development heading, a fund of up to 537.8 million lek in this program or 5.5 million euros allocated for 2025 in current expenditures, will be used for the grant support scheme for investments in agriculture for farmers and agribusinesses, continuing to complete the full value of 2 billion lek in the 2026 budget.
Also referring to the changes in the budget, the reserve fund increases to 4.2 billion lek from 3 billion that was initially determined, and is used by decision of the Council of Ministers for unforeseen cases of general government units.
It is also determined that the fund of approximately 45 million euros under the item "Capital expenditures with foreign financing" will be used to finance projects related to the growth plan with the European Union, with the approval of the Council of Ministers.
