Energy price hike in Kosovo again? - KESCO demands 21.3% price increase

The electricity supply company in Kosovo, KESCO, has submitted to the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) a request for an increase in the price of electricity for 2026 by 21.3 percent.

According to the application, the maximum revenue requested by KESCO for 2026 amounts to 528.78 million euros, compared to the 435 million euros that were allowed for 2025.

According to the official application, the request reflects the significant increase in electricity supply costs, particularly as a result of greater dependence on imports, increased consumption and transmission and distribution network costs, as well as the carryover of financial differences from 2025.

Currently, the daytime tariff for consumers consuming up to 800 kWh is 9.05 cents/kWh, while the nighttime tariff is 3.88 cents/kWh. For consumption above this limit, the price is 15.43 cents during the day and 7.28 cents at night.

We recall that in May 2025, ERO had approved a tariff increase of 16.1 percent compared to 2024. In 2023, ERO approved a 15 percent increase in energy prices.

In 2024, tariffs were reduced by 8 percent for household consumers consuming over 800 kilowatts, as well as for commercial and industrial consumers by 3 percent.

The final decision on this request rests with ERO. If ERO approves KESCO's request this time, it will be the third time in the last four years that the price of electricity for consumers has increased.
