Kosovo closed 2025 with 3.9% inflation - The end of the year brought the largest

The year 2025 was characterized by a continuous increase in consumer prices in Kosovo, directly affecting the reduction of citizens' purchasing power. According to data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), annual inflation reached 3.9%.

November and December were the most expensive months of the year. In December 2025 alone, consumer prices were on average 5.3% higher than in December 2024.

The increase in the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices is mainly driven by the increase in the price of some basic products and services.

The largest increases were recorded in fruits and vegetables by 19%, electricity by 18.3%, services related to personal transport equipment by 18.1%, their maintenance and repair by 14.7%, and meat by 14.4%.

Also, significant price increases were recorded for organized holidays (13.5%), solid fuels such as firewood and pellets (13.1%), coffee, tea and cocoa (11.9%), and dairy products, cheese and eggs (9.8%). However, a decrease in fuel prices was recorded over the past year.

For 2026, the Central Bank of Kosovo predicts an inflation rate of 3.4%. The International Monetary Fund has a similar forecast, estimating that inflation in Kosovo during 2026 will be around 3.5%.

The IMF notes that food and energy prices continue to be the main factors driving inflation in Central, Eastern and Southeastern European countries. The IMF predicts that Kosovo's economy will grow by 3.9% in 2026.
