Migrants sent more money to Kosovo - 654 million euros in remittances in the first half of the year
Migrants sent more money to their families in Kosovo during the first half of the year. According to Central Bank data, remittances for this period were recorded at 654.70 million euros, an increase of 3.91% compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, according to preliminary estimates, remittances for July 2025 were around 126.33 million euros, thus reaching the total value of the 7-month period of 781.03 million euros. The largest inflows were through non-bank financial institutions with 51.55%, commercial banks with 18.53% and other channels with 29.93%.
Remittances from migrants are the main source of income for families in Kosovo, at a time when the prices of daily consumer goods continue to rise.
Remittances to Kosovo continue to come mainly from Germany and Switzerland, which account for about 55% of the total, followed by the US and other Eurozone countries.
Last year, migrant remittances set a new record for the last 10 years, reaching 1.350 billion euros.
Meanwhile, direct investments in Kosovo recorded an annual increase of 5.28% by the end of June, reaching 441.26 million euros. On the other hand, direct investments outside Kosovo marked a significant increase, reaching 166.59 million euros, which represents an increase of 55.23% compared to the same period last year.
