Over 650 million euros for the green transition - Croatia comes to the aid of

Croatia will allocate 652 million euros for projects involving renewable energy and waste management. The funds will go to firms, local authorities and households, to support the country's green transition.

The Croatian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition plans to allocate 652 million euros in subsidies for renewable energy, decarbonization of central heating systems and road traffic, as well as waste management. The ministry has published an annual plan aimed at providing funding to firms, local authorities and households in 2025.

The government allocated 526.8 million euros from the European Union Competitiveness and Cohesion Program 2021-2027, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the EU Modernization Fund. While the Fund for Energy Protection and Efficiency plans to disburse 125 million euros. Most of this amount comes from European Union funds, while only 47 million euros come from national sources.

A total of 45 million euros have been allocated for investments in road traffic with zero emissions. The call for grants is for taxi drivers and services that provide cars or bicycles, the plan says.

Zero emission vehicles will also be subsidized with soft loans to encourage the car transition. The measure is worth 44 million euros.

In the waste management sector, 30 million euros are earmarked for the rehabilitation of a site polluted by hazardous waste, the Sovjak pit. An equal amount will be used for the construction of a facility that will process recyclable waste.

A fund of 35 million euros is intended for families. 10 million euros are available for the installation of solar panels in homes, while 25 million will be allocated to families suffering from energy poverty, for the renovation of structures.
