"The car will not be used every day" - Measure in Albania within 2025, draft: Restriction, according to vehicle license plates
Limiting the use of vehicles on certain days of the week". This is one of the measures that must be implemented within 2025 in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector.
Everything is foreseen in the new National Energy and Climate Plan, released for public consultation. Among other things, the document suggests that limiting the use of vehicles on certain days can be done according to the car's license plate, but this will have to be determined in the future by the relevant institutions.
At the same time, the draft foresees a number of other measures, which must also be taken within the year 2025. Among them is the setting of traffic taxes as well as the study for the elimination of overlaps of transport lines in their itineraries.
Meanwhile, within 2026, interventions will be needed in terms of infrastructure, related to the use of energy-efficient vehicles and improving the quality of roads, as well as in terms of urban planning, reducing mobility needs and distances through planning integrated.
These measures are aimed at reducing the use of energy, which in this case is fuel.
According to the document, car transport accounts for the largest percentage of passenger transport, while motorcycle and watercraft transport account for a small percentage. As far as public transport is concerned, rail transport is negligible, so bus transport is the only form of shared transport.
