Today, the inaugural meeting of the Peace Board - Prime Minister Rama, in the US to sign the membership agreement

US President Donald Trump will chair the first meeting of the Peace Board today. Delegations from 47 countries plus the European Union are expected to attend the event, US officials said. The list includes Israel and several countries, including Albania and Kosovo. However, permanent members of the United Nations Security Council such as France, Britain, Russia and China will not attend.
Prime Minister Edi Rama will also be present at this event, who will sign the agreement for Albania's membership in this institution, as one of the founding states. A few days ago, when announcing his participation in this event, Prime Minister Rama stated that "Albania will not contribute with money to join or to remain as a permanent member, but it contributes with dignity and with what has made it internationally respected and invited, to this high level of discussion on the future of peace."
The disarmament of Hamas militants, the size of the reconstruction fund and the flow of humanitarian aid to the war-torn population of Gaza are among the key questions that could test the board's effectiveness in the weeks and months ahead.
Trump will address representatives of the founding countries at the "Donald J. Trump U.S. Institute of Peace", where the American president will announce that participating countries have raised $5 billion for the reconstruction fund.
Trump's Peace Board has been controversial. It includes representatives from Israel but not the Palestinians, and Trump's suggestion that the Board could ultimately address challenges beyond Gaza has raised concerns that it could undermine the UN's role as the leading platform for global diplomacy and conflict resolution.
Senior US officials said Trump will also announce that several countries are planning to send thousands of troops to participate in an International Stabilization Force that will help maintain peace in Gaza.
