"War with Iran could be over in two weeks" - President Trump to

US President Donald Trump said the war in Iran would end "very soon", giving a timeline of two to three weeks, while the White House announced that Trump would deliver a State of the Union address on Wednesday evening "to provide an important update on Iran".

Trump claimed that the US would be finished with the conflict "maybe in two weeks, maybe a few more days to get the job done. But we want to destroy everything they have."

"When we feel that they, for a long period of time, are stuck in the Stone Age and will not be able to invent a nuclear weapon, then we will leave. Whether we have a deal or not is irrelevant," he said.

According to Trump, the US could reach a deal with Iran before the next few weeks are up, but said that, if not, "We'll reach some bridges, we have some good bridges in mind. But if they come to the negotiating table, that would be great."

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would continue its military campaign against Tehran, declaring it would "destroy Iran's terrorist regime."

"The campaign is not over," he said in a televised statement. "We will continue to suppress the terrorist regime."

Netanyahu's comments came shortly after Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, said his country had the "necessary will" to end the war with Israel and the United States, but was seeking guarantees that the conflict would not be repeated.
