The spread of artificial intelligence in Europe - Which countries use it the most in everyday life?

Europeans are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their lives, but some countries are more prone than others, according to data.
Since the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI in 2022, more than 1.2 billion people worldwide have used the new technology tools, according to a report from Microsoft. This shows a faster pace of adoption than other major technologies, including the internet, personal computers and smartphones.
Today, the European Union has made artificial intelligence a part of everyday life, especially in the wealthier countries. Ireland leads the member states, with 41.7 percent of the population using innovation tools regularly in their daily lives or at work. It is followed by France (40.9 percent) and Spain (39.7 percent).
At the bottom of the list we find Romania (15.3 percent) and Greece (17.7 percent), where people are less inclined to use new technology.
As for countries outside the EU, Norway and the United Kingdom are also intensive users of artificial intelligence: 45.3 percent of Norwegians and 36.4 percent of Britons use it regularly.
According to Microsoft, the global integration of this technology is closely linked to a country's economy. In the global north, the value is around 23 percent, compared to 13 percent in the southern countries.
The expansion of artificial intelligence has also been faster in countries with strong electrical infrastructure and computer connectivity. However, almost four billion people around the world live in regions where these factors remain a challenge. “The shift is not just about access to new technology tools; it also reflects broader inequalities in infrastructure, education and language,” the report says.
