"After School" program expands - High school students included, 1,000 lek per hour for teachers

Referring to the decision of the Council of Ministers, the "After School" program will be implemented for basic education students and, for the first time, for upper secondary education students in public schools. It aims to strengthen learning, as well as develop the educational, social, sports, cultural and creative skills of students.
The decision also expands the categories of trainers who can be engaged in the program. In addition to in-service teachers, candidates from the "Teachers for Albania" portal, retired teachers, graduates in teaching or related fields, as well as art specialists and artisans registered in the relevant national registers will be able to apply. Priority will be given to teachers employed in the educational institution where the program will be developed, while for portal candidates, the ranking according to the points earned will be respected. After selection, the trainers will sign a service contract with the educational institution.
The payment for teachers will be 1000 lek for each hour spent outside of mandatory teaching hours. This payment will be treated as a reward for special educational service and will not be part of the monthly salary or mandatory teaching load. The program will be financed with funds dedicated from the state budget.
The decision also provides for periodic monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the program. Educational institutions will also administer a digital portfolio of the achievements of participating students, while the implementation of the program will be evaluated on the basis of participation, activities developed and results achieved.
