Taxi "trip", cheaper in America than in Albania/ Numbeo ranks us 6th

According to the Numbeo platform, Albania ranks 6th in the world for fixed taxi fares, placing it among 127 countries with high prices for this service. According to the data, a kilometer by taxi in Albania costs an average of $3.31, which makes this service more expensive compared to many developed countries. 

At the top of the list for the most expensive price is Switzerland, where one kilometer by taxi costs $4.45. Of the countries in the region, Albania turns out to be the most expensive for taxi prices. In Montenegro, one kilometer by taxi costs $1.09, and this figure has ranked it in 77th place on the list. 

Meanwhile, in Serbia, a taxi costs $0.93 per kilometer, placing it in 83rd place. Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the other hand, also ranks 83rd with a price of $0.84 per kilometer. Kosovo and North Macedonia have the lowest fares in the region, at $0.77 and $0.62 per kilometer, respectively. 

Albania also stands out at the European level, ranking 3rd for the most expensive taxi fares. This positions our country above several large and developed economies such as: Japan with $2.94, Germany with $2.73, the United Kingdom with $2.14, France with $2.14, the USA with $1.74 and Italy with $1.64.

On the other hand, the countries with the lowest rates for this service are the Philippines and Kyrgyzstan, where a kilometer by taxi costs $0.26 and $0.23, respectively.

The number of taxis has increased significantly in recent years in Albania, especially electric ones. This trend has been influenced mainly by the very high number of tourists in our country.
