Vlora, Dibra and Elbasan "lead" the growth of farmers / Agriculture becomes more formal. Around 105 units with NIPT by the end of 2024
The number of farmers equipped with NIPT at the end of 2024 is 105,709, marking an increase of 9.6%, compared to the number of farmers registered a year earlier. The increase in the number of new farmers is mainly a result of government financial support. Subsidy schemes for agriculture have helped increase the formalization of the sector and equip farmers with NIPT.
Scan Intel analyzed the enterprise registry data for 2024 to understand the distribution of farmers by district. The figures show that during the one-year period, all districts saw an increase in the number of farmers registered with NIPT.
Specifically, the highest increase was again in the Vlora region with 12.4%. So in 2024, 825 more farmers were registered in this region than in 2023. The Dibra region follows in the ranking with 10.7%. In 2023, a total of 3,179 farmers were registered with NIPT, while in 2024 the registrations reached 3,558.
Also, the Elbasan region has had a significant increase in the number of farmers by 9.8%. In contrast, the increase has been low in regions such as Korça and Lezha. While in 2024, Fier was the region that had the most registered farmers compared to other regions.
Lushnje Municipality had the highest percentage of registered active farmers at 10.3%.
If we analyze farmers by gender, it results that 14.4% of owner or manager farmers are women, up from 11.2% in 2023. Regarding economic activity, the figures show that 57.5% of farmers practice it on mixed farms and in vegetable cultivation.
